Clifford P. McNeil, 46, of Union, peacefully entered eternal life, Saturday, February, 13, 2010 at home. He was born January 5, 1964 in Mineola, NY to the late John McNeil and Josephine Rogers McNeil.
Clifford was a resident of New Hyde Park, NY before moving to Bridgewater, NJ in 1973. He graduated from Bridgewater-Raritan High School West in 1982. He was an electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Locals 164 and 52.
Dedicated to his country, he served in the US Navy, aboard the nuclear aircraft carrier, USS Carl Vinson. In his spare time, he enjoyed working with his hands and loved horses, boats, cars, and motorcycles. All who knew him will remember his charming smile, his warm sense of humor, his enormous heart and sincere generosity.
He is predeceased by his mother, Josephine Rogers McNeil, who died in 1979, his father, John McNeil, who died in 2006, and his sister, Maryann Schmitt Byars, who died in 2005.
Clifford will be sadly missed by his companion, Dena Tucker, of Union; sisters, Jeanne Marie Linza and husband, Craig of South Korea and Kathy Merritt and husband, Jim of Neshanic Station; brothers, Robert McNeil and wife, Jill of Neshanic Station and Patrick McGinnis and wife, Rebecca of Hightstown; Aunt Madeline McGinnis and Uncle Bob McNeil; step-mother, Catherine Oppelt and husband, John; nieces and nephews, Amanda, Brian, Áine, Josephine, Megan, Sean, Hannah, Joshua, and Nathaniel; and many other relatives, both in the US and overseas.
Viewing hours will be held on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 US Highway 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876 (908) 526-7638. A Prayer Service will also be held Wednesday evening, beginning at 8 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Clifford's memory to the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, 1 Union Street, Suite 301, Robbinsville, NJ 08691.
